FIS Cross-Country World Cup – Falun, Sweden

The final World Cup weekend before the 2025 World Championships in Trondheim delivered fireworks in Falun, Sweden. Sweden’s Linn Svahn stormed back to the top, winning the classic sprint in a statement performance just in time for Worlds. On the men’s side, 21-year-old Oskar Vike stunned the field with his first World Cup podium in only his sixth start—third place in the sprint.

In the 10 km classic, Finnish star Iivo Niskanen claimed a confident win in his signature event, raising the question: can he turn this form into a world title in Trondheim? Ebba Andersson rounded out the women’s podium—and for the first time in her career won a World Cup race on home snow in Falun.

The Americans had a weekend to remember: Jessie Diggins out-sprinted Heidi Weng to win the women’s 20 km mass start, while Gus Schumacher charged into second place in the men’s race. Sweden’s Ebba Andersson also showed her class with a third-place finish, timing her form perfectly for the championships ahead. Pål Golberg added a new milestone to his résumé with a victory—to secure World Cup win in every major race format.
