FIS Cross-Country World Cup – Lahti, Finland
The World Cup Finals in Lahti, Finland wrapped up the 2024–2025 season in style. Germany’s Coletta Rydzek seized the last sprint of the year to claim her first-ever World Cup victory—on the very tracks where she once earned her first podium—and then teamed up with Laura Gimmler to win the team sprint. Finland’s Jasmi Joensuu, cheered on by a home crowd, secured the Sprint Crystal Globe after a season of remarkable consistency. Whether in skate or classic, she delivered with six finals and a brilliant, emotional first World Cup podium in Toblach. Johannes Høsflot Klæbo’s win in the skate sprint capped a historic campaign featuring 16 consecutive sprint victories; he followed it up with a team sprint win and a triumph in the men’s 50 km classic. No surprise that he claimed his overall Crystal Globe after a season that will be remembered in the history of the sport. In the women’s 50 km classic, Therese Johaug produced yet another masterclass, leaving fans to wonder if this was Queen Therese’s final victory, while Jessie Diggins fought to the very last meters. But in the end, the 2024-2025 Distance Crystal Globe belongs to Jessie. Congratulations!
